What are the responsibilities and job description for the SECS/GEM Software Engineer position at JR Automation?
As a Software Engineer for our newly created and rapidly expanding Digital Solutions Group, you will design and implement software for industrial automation and data systems integration. Although we support countless industries, this opportunity will primarily support the Semiconductor Sector.
Your SECS/GEM experience is essential as we support our customer needs to meet Industry 4.0 demands. On a daily basis, you will partner with some of the most talented individuals in the automation industry. This is a remote position but may require occasional travel to a JR Automation or customer facility. The expectation is that this travel would be less than 20%.
What You'll Do:
- Develop SECS/GEM interfaces for our semiconductor industry clients, primarily from the Tool side. Familiarity with the Host side is helpful but not required.
- Utilize Cimetrix CIMConnect as the main software tool.
- Design and implement software solutions for industrial automation, data systems integration, IIOT, and automated test system projects.
- Support application development in .Net, special interface/driver development in various languages, embedded system development, database development, and highly specialized test system development.
- May also participate in high-end vision system development, and development of internal tools (e.g., specialized CASE tools used by our robot and PLC programmers).

What You'll Bring:
- Four-year degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar discipline along with a demonstrated focus/interest in software engineering.
- 3 years of experience developing SECS/GEM Tool-side interfaces is required.
- 3 years of experience developing software in .Net.
- Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally.
Other Desirable Skills:
- .NET programming – Desktop apps, web apps, database interfaces
- SECS/GEM – Semiconductor tool interface development particularly with Cimetrix tools and Tool-side implementations.
- Lab/Test Automation – National Instruments LabView, low-level and embedded programming
- Database design and SQL programming – SQL Server, Oracle
- Machine Learning and other AI – ML, Custom AI programming, etc.
- Machine Vision – Cognex VisionPro, ViDi, Keyence, Matrox MIL, NI, etc.
- HMI/SCADA programming – Ignition, FTView ME/SE, WinCC, etc.
- Robot programming – Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, etc.
Other Details:
- Ability to travel up to 20%, both domestically and internationally.
