Project Lead Surveyor

With an annual Net Revenue of $15.0 million in 2023, JR Engineering currently has 93 employees with plans to grow to 120 employees over the next 3-5 years.

Job Summary:

The Project Lead Surveyor is responsible for completion of projects including the day-to-day tasks of the technical and drafting team assigned. Responsible for boundary survey and construction calculations analysis and final map checking.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Completes the technical execution of construction surveys, boundary surveys, and topo surveys.
• Provides leadership in a technical role in the project team; assists project leads in planning, scheduling, and resource allocation of the project.
• Coordinates with the field staff as needed.
• Collects and reviews legal descriptions, survey plats, and other documents to assist in conducting survey work.
• Works under the direction of the Project Manager to organize and plan the project schedules and assists with staffing tasks.
• Reports to the Team Lead the team's progress, and is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of their product.
• Occasionally interfaces with clients and contractors on schedules and tasks.
• Oversee the work of more junior office-based survey team and the training of junior staff.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong planning and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Competent in writing legal descriptions, ALTA surveys, subdivision plats, and construction calculations.
• Proficiency with Auto CAD Civil 3D, experience with Trimble Business Center and GIS knowledge is a plus.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 6 - 8 years of survey experience.
• PLS designation is given upon licensing.
