Job Description:
The Data Integration Engineer will work as part of the APHL ETOR technical assistance team, collaborating closely with a Project Manager, Lab Workflow SME, and Terminologist. This role will focus on addressing unique Public Health Laboratory (PHL) and partner healthcare organization requirements, supporting the design, documentation, and updates of local systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a subject matter expert in public health laboratory data and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems).
- Analyze order/result messaging capabilities for multiple projects with various clients.
- Identify and implement technical solutions to meet data exchange requirements.
- Provide technical assistance and consulting to PHLs and partner organizations on messaging solutions.
- Collaborate with project teams, manage assigned tasks, and utilize collaboration tools effectively.
- Review laboratory workflows and recommend changes to enhance processes.
- Work on system implementation projects within public health and healthcare organization environments.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in IT, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).
- Experience: 5 years of relevant experience, including:
- Working with public health LIMS such as StarLIMS, Natus, OpenELIS, or LabVantage.
- Proficiency in HL7 v2.x messaging (e.g., ORM, OML, ORU, LOI, LRI, ADT).
