We are actively seeking an experience Electrical Engineer to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center in developing embedded systems software and FPGA firmware, primarily using C/C and Linux for real-time applications. The role involves designing interfaces, enhancing mission processor security, and maintaining existing systems. Candidates must have a BS degree in a relevant field, six years of technical experience, and proficiency in various programming languages and tools. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. This on-site position requires physical activity, including lifting up to 25 pounds and standing for prolonged periods.
As an Electrical Engineer with JRC, you will...
- Develop embedded systems software, primarily in C/C .
- Create performant, real-time Linux applications for resource-constrained systems.
- Develop FPGA firmware to meet mission needs.
- Design and implement a Raspberry Pi-based interface to connect BMS to projectiles.
- Develop an embedded system UDP receiver for time-critical packet transmission across FPGA-based software-defined radio.
- Enhance mission processor security by adding encryption and boot security to existing Intel SoC FPGA platforms.
- Maintain and update existing flight executive C/C code and integrate new hardware/software interfaces.
- Maintain and update existing FPGA firmware and integrate new hardware/software interfaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table...
- Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline from an accredited institution.
- Experience: 6 years of professional technical experience, including 4 years of specialized experience in:
- Design and integration engineering
- Test and evaluation activities
- Electrical systems requirements management
- Electrical systems engineering design
- Utilization of electrical systems engineering design software tools
- Electrical systems engineering processes
- Security Clearance: Must currently hold a security clearance at the SECRET level.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages: C/C , Verilog, Python, TCL, Shell scripts, Git Version Control.
- General knowledge in:
- Linux
- Board stand-up (preloader, u-boot, Linux kernel, device tree, etc.)
- Networking protocols/interfaces (Ethernet, UDP, TCP/IP)
- Serial protocols (UART, I2C, SPI)
