Engineering Manager: Job Summary
Our client is seeking a results oriented and disciplined Engineering Manager (EM) to lead a team of technical experts in the successful development and execution of engineering projects. This position will play a key role in shaping the future of our engineering efforts while contributing to the growth and success of the company.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting new business development, process engineering, process improvement, and capital project management. Using strong analytical and technical abilities to demand fast, but carefully thought-out results. Strong leadership and control of the work process from beginning to end is necessary.
The job centers around developing new ideas, systems and technology, and also analyzing and improving on old ones. A high level of expertise is expected and the ability to spot and correct errors is important. Work must be done right and quickly, while always focusing on accomplishing the goal and demanding the highest quality work their team.
Reports to: General Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of technical experts to achieve high performance. Foster a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven culture.
- Project Management: Manage the planning, design, and implementation of engineering projects. Define project scopes, timelines, and milestones.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical direction and guidance to the team, ensuring solutions are scalable, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving complex engineering issues.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, business development, and other departments to ensure smooth project execution and alignment with company goals.
- Resource Management: Manage team resources, balancing workloads and allocating tasks based on skills and project priorities. Identify staffing needs and support hiring efforts when required.
- Process Design & Support: Assign resources to facilitate new business pricing proposals, supporting business development through technical expertise and design for manufacturability, production onboarding, and existing production processes.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement improvements that enhance productivity and team efficiency. Including becoming the champion for automation.
- Product Quality: Uphold and improve the businesses quality management system to ensure the companies standing with ISO 9001 and other certifying bodies.
- Performance Management: Set team goals, provide feedback, and identify development opportunities to enhance team members' skills and growth.
- Innovation & Continuous Learning: Stay current with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies. Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent on job experience.
- Proven experience (5 years) in engineering roles, with at least [2] years in a management or leadership position.
- Strong technical background, with expertise in product cost estimating, metal fabrication, stamping, and precision machining.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- A passion for mentoring and developing talent.
- Proficient skill with Computer Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Strong skills with 3D CAD software (Solidworks preferred).
- Experience with MRP or ERP systems (JobBOSS preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in welding/fabrication, resistance spot welding, tool & die making, CNC programming, and automation
Salary : $115,000 - $130,000
