School Nurse (RN) - Part-Time

JSerra is seeking a part time RN to work as a school nurse to support and provide coverage for our existing on-campus nursing team. This individual will assist in providing student and staff health services programs for JSerra Catholic High School. This position includes assessing, evaluating, maintaining, and improving the health of the students and staff on campus as well as promote the prevention of illness on the campus. Hours are somewhat flexible. Special Qualities & Characteristics • Passionate for the mission of JSerra (i.e., the integral formation of students’ faith, intellect, and character) • Deep appreciation for the Catholic faith and a commitment to the teachings of the Church • Strong initiative and desire to work in a highly collaborative environment • Superior rapport with parents, students, and staff Responsibilities • Collaborates with Health Services team and performs job duties as assigned. • Collaborates with parents, students, health care providers and/or other agencies for the purpose of promoting needed treatment, securing information, and complying with legal requirements • Conducts programs and/or activities, i.e., immunization records, for the purpose of ensuring compliance with state law and providing information required for government agencies • Responds to medical emergencies addressing immediate safety concerns and/or medical issues • Maintains health plans for the purpose of addressing student’s health needs and implementing health care directives from parents and/or physicians • Serves, collaborates, and communicates with JSerra administrators, counselors and athletics regarding student(s) medical and behavioral issues • Maintains, tracks, and prepares a wide variety of documenting modalities and activities • Oversee medical information provided for Field Trips and ensure that chaperones are properly trained • Orders supplies and meets periodically with nursing team • Other duties as assigned JSerra Catholic High School provides students in grades 9 through 12 with an individualized education in a faith-based, character-building setting. From daily Mass before school to weekly all-school Mass each Wednesday, from numerous student retreats to frequent staff spiritual development, JSerra offers a warmly ecumenical approach and welcomes students and families of all faith Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Highly creative and organized • Able to rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals • Shows initiative and works well independently and in a team environment • Computer literacy (Word, Excel, etc.) Education & Experience • Current licensed Registered Nurse in the State of California • Two years prior experience as an RN • Prior School nurse experience a plus • Maintain CEUs, CPR/AED certifications and RN license
