Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and team-oriented Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our residential mental health treatment team. This position plays a vital role in supporting individuals with primary mental health diagnoses and/or co-occurring substance use disorders. The BHT will provide direct care in a therapeutic, structured setting, assisting clients in navigating emotional challenges, behavioral disruptions, and treatment engagement.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision, safety monitoring, and emotional support to residents
- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans
- Monitor and document client behaviors, mood, and interactions accurately
- Facilitate or co-facilitate groups, recreational activities, and educational programming
- Support clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed
- Respond calmly and effectively to crises, utilizing de-escalation techniques
- Conduct routine room checks and ensure facility safety protocols are followed
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and orientation for new clients
- Maintain client confidentiality and uphold HIPAA compliance
- Collaborate with clinical and nursing staff to support residents’ recovery goals
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required); Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Behavioral Health, Social Work, or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience in a residential, inpatient, or substance use treatment setting (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emotionally intense or unpredictable situations.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if transport is part of the role).
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.
- Commitment to maintaining a therapeutic, professional, and non-judgmental environment.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and basic de-escalation techniques.
- Fingerprint clearance card (or ability to obtain one upon hire).

- Full-time and part-time shifts available (day, swing, and overnight)
