Job Summary:
The Grinding Machine Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently sharpening and finishing flat and circular blades to customer specifications and tolerances.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Sets up, operates multiple equipment according to the information on the job travelers. Operates equipment to maintain efficiency while achieving the dimensional accuracy and surface finish required.
- Reads and interprets the work order traveler. o Selects and positions tools and fixtures. o Adjusts machine settings. o Performs first piece inspection process, adjust set up as required. o Inspects product to insure quality.
- Handles and stores blades properly to avoid damage.
- Recognizes abnormal operating conditions and shuts down equipment. Seeks assistance to resolve problems.
- Uses proper measurement equipment to insure quality, including protractors and calipers.
- Logs in and out of jobs, providing all required information on time spent, production, rate, scrap, etc.
- Performs planned periodic maintenance on assigned equipment including cleaning, adjusting fluid levels, and lubrication.
- Operates forklift, hand trucks, hoist and pallet jack as needed.
- Follows all safety procedures, including the wearing of all personal protective equipment.
- Maintains cleanliness and order of work area.
- Follows verbal and written instructions.
- Assists in troubleshooting and repair of equipment.
- Drives van as needed to deliver finished good and picks up raw materials.
- Able to operate lathe to machine relieve carbide bottoms, and other task as needed • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Able to interpret drawings, identify dimensions, add and subtract fractions, measure accurately with a caliper to .005 inches.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours and overtime on an as needed basis, including extra hours during the weekdays, Saturdays and occasionally on Sundays or holidays.
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years of experience in Grinding Machine Operation or similar role.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical ability to frequently lift and carry up to 90 lbs.
Working Conditions:
This position requires working in an unconditioned indoor environment where temperatures vary widely during the year. The noise level is very loud such that hearing protections is required. Exposure to dust, lubricants, metal shavings, and oil is on a continual basis. Eye protection must be worn at all times on the shop floor.
