Production Supervisor

PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

JOB SUMMARY: Provide assistance to the Plant Manager by helping to plan production schedules and commitments, review material and labor requirements, report manning and equipment needs. Ensures operators and leads have the tools and training they need. Assures timely manufacturing of high-quality products, according to provided drawings and customer specifications.

DUTIES:

• Assures safety of all workers above and beyond anything else
• Maintains the highest interest to the mission of the company and accepts the motto “Delivering a fresh experience” as the culture of JSI.
• Promotes and ensures products to meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.
• Ensures products are on time, while managing a cost-effective result.
• Is courteous and respectful, but firm in holding employees accountable to the business expectations and policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures a safe work environment, making certain that employees will not be in jeopardy to injury
• Ensures that all employees observe and comply with all JSI policies and safety regulations
• Alert to the quality of work being produced and that it is acceptable to company standards and specifications in all areas
• Disciplinary responsibilities are limited to documented warnings and up to 1 day off (more days may be authorized with the Production Manager’s approval). Any disciplinary action above this will be the responsibility of the Production Manager, General Manager and/or the Human Resources Director
• Plans production by reviewing with other supervisors, and communicating priorities with the Leads
• Measures & tracks department effectiveness, with guidance from the Production Manager
• Ensures scanning is up to date, material & labor are reconciled for each WO
• Ensures their departments are clean, organized and safe always
• May need to fill in for Lead(s) when away
• Maintains good attendance
• Display a sense of urgency towards completing assigned tasks
• Takes action to provide solutions to problems and “owns” their respective departments
• Leads staff to resolve issues (direct employees as to correct chain to follow for health and safety and employee issues and concerns).
• Attend production, quality and safety meetings to keep abreast of corporate needs and policies
• Anticipates and reports labor requirements, equipment needs and bottlenecks that could impede smooth production flows and on-time customer deliveries
• Helps to provide accurate and on-time deliveries of customer orders, according to pre-determined delivery schedules
• Delivers timely paperwork of transfers, time off, discipline, etc. of employees under their direction
• Leads in training and/or interacting with team members to help meet established goals and standards
• Display an awareness to maximize the utilization of materials and to minimize waste of materials
• Other duties that may be assigned on an as-required basis

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to read and interpret job orders and to understand specifications and technical drawings
• Possess good verbal and written communication skills
• Possess supervisory abilities
• Possess proven Human Relations skills
• Ability to manage multi tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Capable of learning new skills as needed
• Must be detail oriented

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

• Reports directly to the Plant Manager

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally, sitting most of the time, and only brief periods of standing and walking.
• Requires minimal travel for training or customer store visits as needed.
