Role Summary:
As an Automation and Controls Engineer, you’ll be a pivotal team member in implementing automation and innovation across high-speed packaging operations in North America. In this hands-on role, you’ll design, optimize, and troubleshoot systems to enhance production efficiency, boost quality, and ensure safety. Working closely with production, technical operations, and procurement teams, you’ll deliver tailored solutions that align with our business growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Collaboration: Assist in defining project scopes, budgets, and timelines with cross-functional teams.
- Automation Design & Deployment: Design and execute automation systems for packaging, processing, and material handling operations.
- Technical Support: Provide hands-on troubleshooting and collaborate with vendors to address system issues.
- Process Enhancements: Identify and implement improvements to increase line efficiency, safety, and quality while reducing costs.
- Engineering Guidance: Offer support and advice to site engineers on automation concepts and specifications.
- Digital Tools Implementation: Assist in deploying digitization tools like MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and DCS (Distributed Control System) solutions.
- Continuous Learning: Stay informed about best practices and emerging technologies in bottling and packaging automation.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Education: BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Technical Engineering is required.
- Experience: 5-7 years in an automation/controls role for a packaging integrator or a food/CPG manufacturer.
- Technical Expertise: Proficient in automation control, PLC ladder logic programming, HMI design and configuration
- Software Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; SAP experience is a plus.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong collaboration and project management skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
- Travel: Flexibility to travel up to 60% based on project requirements.
Preferred Experience:
- Hands-on involvement in automation projects within the food, beverage, or consumer goods sectors.
- Experience with equipment integrators and high-speed bottling systems.
- Knowledge of advanced packaging and processing automation technologies.
