Job Description:
We are seeking a sharp and reliable Dispatch Coordinator to manage and dispatch drivers for port drayage and over-the-road (OTR) operations. The ideal candidate is organized, tech-savvy, and excels in high-pressure environments with strong communication and multitasking skills.
This role involves heavy phone and email communications with drivers, freight brokers, and customers, and requires experience with Microsoft Office, equipment control, and the Georgia Ports Authority web portal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatch drivers for Port Drayage and OTR operations
- Manage daily scheduling, routing, and communication with drivers
- Coordinate with customers, freight brokers, and internal teams
- Monitor and update shipments via GA Port Web Portal – including Pinning and Street Turns
- Handle equipment control and related documentation
- Maintain accurate records and logs of dispatch activity
- Provide excellent customer service via phone and email
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Full knowledge of GA Port Web Portal operations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in dispatch, transportation, or logistics required
- Familiarity with rail, barge, cherry picking, flatbed, specialized crane & rigging is a plus
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
