Responsibilities
- Direct traffic flow around construction sites using appropriate hand signals and signage.
- Communicate effectively with team members and drivers to ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Monitor the work area for hazards and report any safety concerns immediately.
- Assist in setting up and taking down traffic control devices, including cones, signs, and barriers.
- Collaborate with heavy equipment operators to facilitate safe operations, including Loader operation, Backhoe operation, and Utility locating.
- Maintain a clear understanding of construction site activities, including bulldozing, paving, and building operations.
- Ensure compliance with all local traffic laws and regulations while managing traffic.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a flagging or traffic control role is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as Caterpillar machinery is a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
- Strong observational skills to identify potential hazards on construction sites.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with team members and the public.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks as needed.
- A valid driver's license may be required depending on job site location.
