Overview:
JT Construction is looking for a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Concrete Superintendent. JT Construction is a growing company with many opportunities to expand and develop a person’s career.
This position is responsible for all activities related to concrete at the construction site. This includes assuring a safe and productive work environment, maintaining the schedule, and being conscious of the budget set for the project.
A minimum of 2 years of concrete experience is required for this position. The ability to understand schedules and project estimates is a must. The successful candidate must have supervisor experience and understand how to manage their team to accomplish the expected outcomes of a project.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Determine job priorities, and coordinate work activities with all parties to ensure the project remains on schedule.
- Organize, coordinate, and supervise the work of craft employees, general labor, and necessary subcontractors on a project.
- Provide a safe work environment through creating a culture of safety for the project and holding everyone on the project accountable for safe behavior.
- Coordinate plans and construction activities with the owner.
- Ensure all materials needed for concrete construction are on the project site as they are required to prevent delays.
- Manage company equipment, and rental equipment for maximum productivity and minimum cost.
- Implement quality control measures on the project to ensure the project is completed correctly, and to exceed the expectations of the owner.
- Keep an accurate record of time for employees on the job and submit it to the office weekly for better tracking of hours on a project.
- Maintain good relationships with the owner, project manager, and your crew to complete the project on time and on budget.
- Act as a mentor for crew members and regularly review their performance. Give them positive feedback when needed and make recommendations for improvements when appropriate.
Duties to Oversee and Execute:
- Perform concrete finishing tasks such as smoothing, leveling, and shaping surfaces
- Use hand and power tools to create desired finishes on concrete surfaces
- Operate heavy equipment to transport and pour concrete
- Renovate existing concrete structures by repairing cracks and applying new finishes
-Layout a jobsite and concrete pads
- Utilize carpentry skills for tasks such as forming
- Apply caulk and other sealants to ensure a watertight finish
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a concrete finisher or similar role
- Proficient in operating heavy equipment for concrete prep
- Knowledge of carpentry techniques
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints accurately
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality finishes
- Excellent problem-solving skills to address any issues that may arise during the concrete finishing process
Note: Additional qualifications such as certifications in concrete finishing or related fields are a plus.
