POSITION TITLE:
Field Time Keeper / Project Controls
SUMMARY:
J.T. Thorpe & Son, Inc. (JT THORPE) was founded in 1906, and is one of the largest specialty industrial construction companies in North America. We are engineers and contractors of refractory, fireproofing, sand blasting, painting, acid proofing and coatings services. We strive to deliver the best large industrial construction projects throughout the Gulf Region.
As the project controller you will oversee, monitor, and control all project financials; delivering organized and accurate results to drive reliable project financials.
Successful Project Controls Coordinators will possess excellent organizational skills, be detail oriented, self-starting, and have an enthusiasm for excellence in their work. Interaction with JTThorpe internal managers and external customers will be required so excellent communication skills are critical.
The Project Controls role is vital to the success of our project team, contributing to continuous improvement processes, enhancing project team communications, and strengthening client satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES ON JOBSITES:
- Tracking costs (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors)
- Tracking time and submitting daily timesheets for labor on construction sites
- Inputting data into customer-specific databases such as Track, SAP and CCM
- Coordinating weekly payroll hours with paychecks
- Interacting with Supervision, Field Employees, Office Staff and Customers
- Tracking labor and supplying data for input to a database
- Developing invoices from labor, material and equipment timesheets
- Provides support to Project Engineers and Project Managers
- Prepare various cost and forecasting reports
QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
- Associates Degree in business, engineering or accounting
- Applicants must have a strong work ethic allowing for long hours at industrial construction sites
- Applicants must be willing to travel as required within the Gulf Coat Region.
- Strong computer background, including proficiency with MS Office
- Extensive knowledge of Excel (including complex functions, linking spreadsheets, etc.) required
- Good communications skills and ability to work with a diverse team of people
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment and accept supervision
- Must be able to pass a Federal background check and obtain a TWIC Card
- Drug testing (DISA) is required
