Processes, verifies, and prepares paperwork and items for shipment, while maintaining records for outgoing shipments.

The Shipping Specialist determines, arranges, and coordinates transportation of internal bound and external bound products with external customers, vendors, and internal customers and management. Processes, verifies, and prepares paperwork and items for shipment, while maintaining records for outgoing shipments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates outbound carrier representatives to schedule shipping arrangements, receive quotations, or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials, based on customer processes.
- Determines shipping methods, routes, container packaging fill levels, and rates for materials to be shipped, including land or sea containers for international shipments.
- Exercises independent judgement by choosing various shipping methods and problem solving to meet the demands of customers when carrier delays occur.
- Computes amounts, such as space available, product dimensions, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges, using computer of price lists.
- Prepares documents, such as packing lists, bills of lading, shipping orders, route materials, Nafta International paperwork, etc.
- Records shipment data, such as weight, photos of product and truck/trailer numbers, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
- Examines shipment contents and compares with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
- Investigates and processes damage claims working with our customers and shipping vendors to find a satisfactory resolution.
- Education and Experience
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
- 3 years production manufacturing experience, preferably in a metal fabrication industry.
- 5 years shipping-receiving experience
- 2 years fork-lift experience
- Technology
- Windows PC proficiency
- Microsoft Office Suite
- ERP Software
