What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Salt Quench Furnace Operator position at Jtekt North America Corporation?
This is a 3rd shift position (11pm - 7am), will train on 1st shift (7am - 3pm)
Assist with set up and operation of production machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Weekend work is required & must be able to work in a HOT environment.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
Keep the furnaces running so that they produce quality parts. Understand, set and adjust all flow meters throughout the shift.
React to and clear alarms in a timely manner. Monitor furnace parameters via electronic chart recorders.
Perform shut down procedures on all furnaces and feeders. Perform emergency shut down procedures on all furnaces as required. Perform troubleshooting as necessary to obtain part quality or correct equipment failures.
Perform preventive maintenance procedures for each furnace and related equipment.
Perform housekeeping & 5S as required to keep the area in compliance.
Start up, operate, adjust and shut down equipment in the Salt Quench Department on all furnace lines, including any other related equipment attached to or used for the furnaces.
Specifically, complete a cold start up and weekly start up on all furnaces and feeders. Perform a changeover without mixing parts. Perform set up procedures on the controllers and feeders.
Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) checks at the appropriate intervals per SPC charts and Operation Sheets and identify parts that are in or out of specification. Deliver SPC charts to the Supervisor for review.
Turn in quality samples to the Metrology lab for tests. Load and off load the furnaces as necessary to optimize quality and production. Use of special gauges as well.
Assist with adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion.
All responsibilities & duties below are in the manner of Assistant to the Salt Quench Operator; this is also considered a learning / development role with all items below considered.
Self-motivated and good communication & Listening skills are a plus.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Read and complete respective documentation, operate computer (Microsoft Office Apps) and perform basic math.
Job requires working in a hot environment with temperatures reaching up to 130 degrees.
