Summary/Purpose
Manage all Production Control functions with the purpose of creating and executing the master schedule, driving supplier material forecasts to meet customer demand, work-in-process inventory, finish goods inventory, and plant productivity objectives.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
Support the Kaizen department and Production Control in implementing and refining TPS (Toyota Production System), including kanban systems where applicable.
Management of supplier release and master scheduling systems.
Lead monthly plant-wide production meetings focused on a 4-month horizon (FUKA).
Customer contact responsibility for production planning and product delivery requirements.
Lead initiatives to manage and enhance supplier delivery performance, with a focus on addressing underperforming suppliers. Collaborate with purchasing to secure necessary support for improvement efforts.
Create departmental budgets and manpower plans and ensure management within planned expense and manpower allocations.
Create inventory plan and manage inventory to maintain optimal levels that support production schedules and minimize carrying costs.
Manage finished goods inventory to ensure availability meets customer demand while minimizing excess stock.
Participate in cross-functional teams to address operational challenges and drive continuous improvement across the organization.
Initiate and lead corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
Develop systems to reduce obsolete and slow-moving inventory (follow POCP process).
Lead or participate in special projects related to production planning, inventory optimization, ERP system implementation, or process improvement initiatives.
Track plant delivery performance and manage customer and supplier expedites. Track costs and pursue reimbursement as appropriate using the DMR (Discrepant Material Report) process.
Lead efforts in production control to enhance both the utilization and accuracy of information within Oracle.
Manage MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) tool crib activities, emphasizing inventory management and mitigate OSMI risk.
Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure successful project execution and achievement of project objectives.
Lead efforts to manage and improve the implementation of change points (MOC- Management of Change).
Create departmental objectives and goals that align with the organization’s overall strategy (Hoshin), manage team hoshin plans, and the monthly reviews to maintain goal alignment and progress tracking.
Facilitate weekly departmental meeting (OMDS) with PC staff members.
Develop and train team members to enhance their skills and capabilities in production planning and control.
Collaborate with other departments such as purchasing, logistics, sales, engineering, and quality assurance to optimize production processes and achieve overall business objectives.
Work overtime on weekdays and possibly Saturdays or Sundays as directed or as necessary to fulfill essential job duties.
Responsibilities apply to both Plant 1 and Plant 2.
Maintain the confidentiality of all Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for supervising a department of 12-15 direct reports in accordance with policies and procedures.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel, Word, Access, Oracle system
Must be self-motivated, possess excellent organizational and analytical skills
Communicate and effectively deal with suppliers, customers and other departments
Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems
The above may be waived by the Senior Manager/ Manager and the Human Resources Manager if the candidate is otherwise qualified.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Business, Materials Management, or Engineering, or equivalent experience, including 6-8 years of leadership experience in automotive related manufacturing, material management, customer contact, warehousing, or production control function
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Sit with intermittent walking
Manual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writing
Communicate (hearing and speech) with individuals in person and by phone
Visually read reports, computer screen, etc.
Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked/day, 5 days/week
