Summary/PurposeThe Team Leader position will be responsible for the daily operations on 1st Shift in all areas. They will monitor and update departmental goals/metrics to be reported out to Supervisors weekly, or as needed. The Team Leader will work closely with operations to prioritize production based on severity of customer needs. They will be required to operate equipment in the department as needed based on schedules and priorities.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities: • Serves as an absentee replacement as needed• Develops and maintains 5S• Supports safety of associates and equipment• Tracks associate/department metrics (bekido, chokko, yarijimai, PPLH)• Performs hourly/regular checks with associates for Production Status Sheets• Monitors, adjusts and repairs changing conditions to achieve good quality and daily yarijimai• Supplies training tools for associates to complete work as required• Perform operator re-certifications as required• Will lead a QCC or Kaizen improvement group• Promotes company policies, rules and procedures to associates• Provides input to the Supervisor for associate evaluations• Ensures a safe, clean, and orderly work area/ department• Drives changes needed to improve efficiencies, cost reductions and other factors to improve Cairo performance• Motivates and encourages associates to meet or exceed plant standard• Maintains a professional and productive work environment. • Establishes fair and consistent treatment standards for all associates• Works with the supervisor to motivate and encourage associates performance and behavior• Ensures all associates are properly trained and have the tools necessary to complete their job• Champions continuous improvement related to Safety, Quality, and Production• Assists Supervisor with quality issues by understanding and properly utilizing Stop-Call-Wait when quality issue arises. Ensuring proper containment of suspect product is a critical responsibility for the Team Leader. Be able to provide necessary quality feedback to value stream associates• Maintains and continuously support the 5S system that addresses safety, housekeeping, organization, quality, and continuous improvement• Be able to effectively manage or assist department supervisor in resolving conflict• Assists operators in troubleshooting process problems and scrap• Conducts daily layered audits, standard work audits and pitches while ensuring productivity• Monitors and tracks the productivity of associates and equipment in the work area. (Bekido and Chokko)• Maintains a good working knowledge and support of plant policies and plant procedures in an ethical manner• Learns, supports and implements standard work practices and other Lean/JPS methods and philosophies• Identifies both internal and external customers, understand the needs and expectations of these customers, and understand how associate job performance and productivity affects these customers• Demonstrates excellent communication with both internal and external customers; understands the needs and expectations of these customers. This includes excellent people interaction skills that are professional, open-minded, and encouraging to reach resolutions• Flexible and willing to work weekends and odd hours when necessary. Assisting with tasks when normal associates are unavailable may also be required• Able to perform operator re-certification as required• Willing to stay current with leadership practices and take courses that may require travel• Ensures smooth transition/ report off to the on-coming shift• Flexible to support all shifts and required work days• Able to perform other duties as required by manager
Supervisory Responsibilities:This position is responsible for supervising a shift of associates in accordance with policies and procedures
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Have excellent attendance• Have good leadership skills to be able to manage and direct others.• Be able to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos• Ability to work with minimal supervision• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other associates in the company• Have organizational and documentation skills• Have demonstrated successful problem-solving skills• Be willing to learn the technical aspects of the assigned value stream• Be able to multi-task to perform different tasks effectively and efficiently• Excellent computer skills needed to keep records, compile and manage data, and communicate with other associates• Must be willing to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays as needed• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and email• Skills required promoting good written and verbal communication upstream, downstream and shift to shift
Education and Experience: • High School Diploma or GED required• Capable of running or learning to run all equipment in the area• Good demonstrated problem solving skills• Good demonstrated communication skills• Good demonstrated leadership skills• Good demonstrated ability to work in a team environment• Be qualified in Basic SPC and data analysis• MS Office and Quantum experience preferred
