Outpatient Mental Health Therapist - School-Based Mental Health Program

About the Position
Direct Realistic Counseling Services seeks a dedicated and compassionate Outpatient Mental Health Therapist to join our School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) program serving Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS). Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide individual and group therapy sessions to students within the school setting. They will conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop tailored treatment plans to address each student's unique needs. Collaboration with school staff, families, and other healthcare providers will ensure a holistic approach to student care.
Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation is an essential aspect of this role. The therapist will also be expected to participate actively in team meetings and case conferences, contributing their expertise to the overall mental health strategy of the schools they serve.
This position will focus on implementing evidence-based interventions appropriate for the school setting. Additionally, the therapist will be required to provide crisis intervention services as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of students during challenging situations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a master’s degree in counseling, Social Work, or a related field. This position requires a current and unrestricted license to practice in North Carolina (LCSW, LCMHC, or LMFT).
We seek a professional with experience working with children and adolescents in a mental health setting. The candidate should have a strong knowledge base of evidence-based practices for treating common mental health issues in youth.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role, as the therapist will interact with students, families, and school staff daily. It is crucial for the therapist to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Requirements
Reliable transportation is necessary for this position, as the therapist must travel between multiple school locations. The successful candidate must be able to work in Johnston County, North Carolina, for at least two days per week. Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to travel between school locations are necessary for this role.
