TITLE: Endodontist
POSITION SUMMARY: The Endodontist is responsible for examining teeth, gums, and mouth to diagnose teeth needing endodontic treatment. Once the diagnosis is established, they must perform a variety of endodontic procedures to correct the problem.
JOB DUTIES:
- Examine, diagnose, and treats diseases of pulp, nerve, and other dental tissues affecting the vitality of teeth.
- Diagnose condition and plans treatment.
- Treats exposure if pulp by pulp capping or removal of pulp from pulp chamber and root canal, using dental instruments.
- Performs partial or total removal of pulp, using surgical instruments.
- Treats infected root canal and related tissues and fills pulp chamber and canal with endodontic materials.
- Removes pathologic tissue at apex of tooth, surgically.
- Reinserts teeth that have been knocked out of mouth by accident.
- Bleaching to restore natural colors of teeth.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have DDS or DMD from an accredited school.
- Must have successfully completed an advanced education program in endodontics accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the ADA.
- Must be licensed to practice in the respective state.
- Willingness to develop a referral network and strong relationships within the community.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Four (4) or more years professional experience preferred
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Assume quality of care for patients with endodontic problems while adhering to the highest standard of dental practice ethics and professionalism.
- Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases of dental pulps and periapical tissues of teeth.
- Evaluate findings and prescribe methods of treatment to prevent loss of teeth and to restore teeth to function.
