Job Description
Position Title : GEAR UP School Site Coordinator
Position Type : Salary $60,000 / Exempt,
Position Hours : Full-time; Monday - Friday; 40 Hours per Week
Reports to : GEAR UP Project Director
Length of Term / Employment : 225 Workdays / At-will
Position Mission : The GEAR UP School Site Coordinator will coordinate all school activities including : academic activities, counseling, advising, tutoring, parent training, AP, early college, dual enrollment, capacity building, after-school programs, summer programs, college readiness, financial literacy, college awareness training and are also charged with reporting all activity data into the online database (Youth Connections).
Education / Certification :
- Bachelor's degree in Educational Leadership or a related field.
- Master's Degree, Preferred
- Texas Teaching Certificate
- 3 years of experience with tutoring, academic, and counseling programs
Experience :
Experience and / or extensive knowledge of effective Extended Learning ProgramsProven ability to communicate with students, parents, and schoolSpecial Knowledge and Skills :
Ability to provide leadership, planning, coordination, and management to support the development of infrastructure that creates the conditions for educational access and equityCollaborate with campus staff to organize student events such as pep rallies, academic nights and other support activities before, during and after school to encourage post-secondary readinessHelp organize, provide support for, and attend evening and weekend events organized by other CoordinatorsEstablish a social-emotional learning approach that cultivates a sense of belonging and communityAbility to collect, analyze and desegregate data (i.e. grades, attendance, transcripts, etc.) to improve student academic achievement and social-emotional needs through student interviews and counselor recommendationsDemonstrated attention to detail and organizational skillsKnowledge of available and appropriate community agencies and resourcesManagement style compatible with the positionAbility to collaborate with campus administration, counselors, teachers, and parents to maximize student achievementTimely submission of required documentation for student services, volunteer and donation forms, In-Kind Match collections for data entry in Youth ConnectionsAssist in the assessment and long-term sustainability of the programMac and / or PC proficientBilingual preferredPerform other duties as assignedCommunication :
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with students, parents, teachers, principal, and other school personnel as neededMaintains a professional relationship with administrators, students, parents, school and district personnel, and community membersUse effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearlyLeverage social media platforms to increase student, parent, and community involvementAdvocates for a school environment that acknowledges and respects diversityProfessional Growth and Development :
