About us:
Jubilee Marketplace opened its first doors in 1999-2000 in NYC. For 20-plus years, we have been one of the first supermarkets to offer organic, gourmet, and specialty products.
Fast forward to 2023, when we open our biggest store in Greenpoint! We are pushing the boundaries of what a supermarket is by being the first supermarket to offer local, pasture-raised meat in a whole animal butcher shop. We dry age all of our own meats, have a cheese shop, a sustainable fish program, and we carry local organic produce with a local farm stand at the helm of the store front. We believe the future of supermarkets can be more than just common denominator goods.
Our goal in prepared food is to showcase the highest caliber of hospitality possible, meaning our guests should always feel at home and welcome. Our food should always reach above and beyond expectations, and our attention to detail should exceed our competitors.
About You:
We are searching for experienced Line Cooks and Prep Cooks to join the Culinary Team. You will be a part of our in-house Cafe team. We work with local purveyors to source great ingredients, and showcase them in our cafe and through the production of value-added products.

Qualifications
Minimum
- Basic Knife skills
- Ability to maintain an organized and clean work station
- Basic understanding and willingness to uphold DOH/FDA guidelines
- Ability to follow proper opening and closing procedures
- The ability to fluently and positively communicate between teams
- Efficient work practices
- Timeliness
- Positive Team player
- Good listener and quizzical
- Above and beyond customer service, helping to create a positive environment for all guest and employees
Preferred
- 2 years experience working in kitchens
- Experience working the hot line, i.e. grilling, roasting, and frying.
- Food Handler’s License (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Work as a team to deliver a great experience for our guests
- Cook food to order in a timely manner
- Prepare ingredients in accordance to recipe guidelines and specifications
- Follow proper food safety guidelines
- Follow proper sanitation guidelines and maintain a clean station
- Coordinate with and assist other team members when necessary
For Prep departments
- Making sure all prepared items are tested by Chef prior to packaging
- Understanding and executing our HACCP and SOP’s plans
- Maintaining the prep schedule for specific items and communicating with Chef if the schedule needs to be adjusted
- Understanding and learning how to use Daily inventory sheets for prepare, and or, cafe items
- Knowing what and where our products come from
- Understanding all types of dietary needs and restrictions and how to deliver the best tasting product that adheres to them
- Answering customer service questions
- Making sure all DOH rules are understood and followed
- Making sure all stations are cleaned to DOH and Jubilees set standards
- Having a basic understanding of culinary fundamentals
- Being a team player
- Maintaining a positive attitude and time management
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs if necessary
- Comfortable walking or standing for long periods
- Work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to withstand a specific amount of heat and pressure up to a 5 hour period during busy service periods.
Salary : $18 - $23
