Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team at Jubilee Railroad Wilderness Lodge. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance, construction, plumbing, electrical work, or related fields.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform daily maintenance tasks across all lodging, dining, campground, and storage facilities
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and grounds
- Assist with maintaining natural resources, including riverfront areas and forest lands
- Support the Facilities Manager in completing projects on time and within budget
- Help implement practical improvements that enhance guest comfort and property sustainability
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs:
- Perform routine maintenance on buildings, equipment, and grounds
- Complete assigned work orders and maintenance requests in a timely manner
- Assist with maintaining resort vehicles and tools
- Properly document completed work and maintain maintenance logs
- Follow safety standards and preventive maintenance protocols
- Help service and inspect grounds, facilities, and pool/hot tub areas
- Perform basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs
- Assist with landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, and gardening
- Participate in snow removal operations as needed
- Help with setup and takedown for special events
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Facilities Manager and other maintenance team members to prioritize daily tasks
- Communicate effectively about maintenance needs and completed work
- Assist with inventory management of maintenance supplies and parts
- Support the Facilities Manager during vendor visits and contracted work
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions
Other Onsite Responsibilities:
- Engage positively with guests, providing excellent customer service
- Respond to urgent maintenance needs throughout the property
- Assist with emergency preparedness and response
- Participate in some on-call rotation for after-hours maintenance issues
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop and storage areas
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience in maintenance, construction, plumbing, electrical work, or related fields. A broad knowledge of general maintenance practices and the ability to safely operate tools and equipment are essential for this role.
This is an onsite and in-person position.
Required Qualifications:
- Practical knowledge of building maintenance, basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks independently
- Valid Driver's License
- Strong communication skills with ability to interact professionally with managers, staff, and guests
- Reliable work ethic with consistent attendance and punctuality
- Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Commitment to the mission/vision/values of Jubilee Railroad & Jubilee College
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move throughout the property, including outdoor terrain in various weather conditions
- Capable of climbing ladders and accessing cabooses and other buildings regularly
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions throughout four distinct seasons
- Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment safely
Salary & Benefits:
- Job Type: Hourly and non-exempt
- Expected hours: 30-40 per week (can be flexible on this if needed)
- Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour (depending on experience)
