Job Description
Railroad Construction Operator - Laborer
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Position is physically demanding. Requires candidate to be a hard worker and motivated employee. Ability to work in a physical, fast paced environment and possess excellent work ethic. The position requires a variety of experience and the ability to work without close supervision. Perform variety of tasks including maintenance and construction of new and existing trackage, changing out crossties, rails, and turnout materials. Physical labor involved placing crossties, tie plates, track spikes, angle bars and turnout materials. Use of shovel to place ballast. Level earth to fine grade specifications. Skilled operation of various loaders and specialty railroad equipment. Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary in the operation of all equipment. Keep job site clean and free of debris. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned such as assisting with manual labor when not operating equipment. Must adhere to all Company safety guidelines. Ability to travel, have a Class B CDL, and have a good driving record and accident history. Regular, timely job attendance is an essential job requirement.
