Description:
Role Title: Expert Engineer
Work Location: Onsite in Richland, WA
Duration: 6 month contract
Specialization: I&C Digital Design
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and ensure the technical adequacy of all engineering activities within the discipline.
- Serve as a recognized technical resource for solving complex engineering problems.
- Ensure compliance with design bases requirements and proper application of engineering methods in design and analysis.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Review and approve design changes, calculations/analyses, licensing documents, system health reports, and other technical documents.
- Define, implement, and manage major engineering programs or discipline groups with minimal guidance.
- Ensure technical quality and cost-effectiveness of engineering work.
- Provide broad, in-depth technical guidance and mentoring to engineering personnel.
- Resolve complex system and component problems requiring broad system knowledge.
- Identify potential design, quality, or operational problems and initiate corrective actions.
- Provide consultation on code or standards requirements, design and analysis methods, or licensing requirements.
- Develop state-of-the-art engineering methods and practices.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or Applied Science from an accredited college or university.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or an advanced degree.
- Twelve years of discipline-specific engineering experience, with at least seven years related to nuclear power.
Security Clearance:
- Must pass a background investigation with heightened security clearance.
- Unescorted Access (Green badge 1 or 2) may be required, including a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ), background investigation, valid state-issued ID, fitness for duty screening, criminal history check, psychological evaluation, credit report review, and computer-based training.
- Subject to a five-year reinvestigation.
Desired Education and Experience:
- Experience with Nuclear Design Change Process and 50.59 Licensing Process.
- Experience in SEL relay selection, design, programming, and testing.
- Experience in Triconex system component selection, design, programming, and testing.
- Experience in Cyber Security requirements and documentation.
Required Abilities and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of discipline engineering principles, practices, and theories.
- Advanced technical knowledge of related discipline principles.
- Ability to work alternate shifts during outages.
- Well-organized and able to manage priorities.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Effective communication skills for both analytical and non-scientific backgrounds.
- Ability to provide strong technical guidance, mentoring, leadership, and training.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
