Project Engineer

Location: Savage, MD
Salary: $80,000.00 USD Annually - $100,000.00 USD Annually
Description: Role Overview

Lead the development and implementation of capital projects that support existing operations and growth plans. Continuously explore and assess new milling, blending, and packaging technologies for integration into our processes and future objectives. Manage both in-house teams and external contractors during project execution.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and install new systems and equipment.
• Develop concept-to-final proposal drawings.
• Stay updated on industry advancements in engineering techniques, machinery, equipment, and materials.
• Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance departments to develop and manage projects.
• Assist maintenance teams with technical issues and unusual maintenance tasks.
• Ensure departmental and plant goals in Safety, Quality, Sanitation, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness are met.
• Incorporate Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards into new designs.

• Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable in an industrial setting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Skilled in AutoCAD or Solidworks.
• Backup role: Engineering & Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications
Required

• Ability to read, interpret, and create engineering drawings.
• Experience in capital and plant operations (maintenance) project management.
• Familiarity with OSHA, FDA, and EPA regulatory compliance requirements.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Industrial).

Preferred

• Experience in safety and process hazard analysis.
• Advanced understanding of Lean, 6S, and TPM principles.
• Six years of experience in Process Engineering within a food, chemical, or beverage processing environment.
• Experience with sifting, cleaning, sterilization, milling, mixing, and packaging equipment.
