Senior Power Electronics Engineer with DOD Client
- Must be local to the Cambridge office and capable of flexible in-office work. Remote full-time positions are not available for this role.
- Active clearance is strongly preferred. Candidates without an active clearance must be eligible to obtain a secret clearance upon starting.

Overview: The Senior Power Electronics Engineer plays a crucial role in designing, developing, and testing power system architectures for diverse applications. This position encompasses the planning, design, and specification phases for system requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement power system architectures.
- Conduct research, design, development, and testing of hardware such as miniature power conversion, distributed power architectures, and radiation-hardened designs.
- Optimize system designs to minimize size, weight, and power consumption.
- Create new product designs and define technical specifications for production.
- Analyze and test hardware configurations for specification compliance.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships internally and externally.
- Solve complex engineering problems, develop requirements, and adapt to evolving customer needs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in advanced power electronics architectures and designs.
- Participate in business development and proposal preparation activities.
- Identify technical risks at the program/system level and execute mitigation strategies.
- Manage multidisciplinary tasks with a team of engineers and communicate effectively with project leadership and customers.
- Share best practices and mentor junior engineers while maintaining strong organizational and time management skills.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in areas such as isolated/non-isolated DC/DC power conversion, rectification, inversion, battery management systems, motor controller design, and system-level power distribution.
- Strong proficiency in designing and troubleshooting power electronics.
- Experience with schematic capture and printed circuit board (PCB) layout.
- Circuit simulation expertise using tools like SPICE or similar software.
- System modeling and analysis skills using MATLAB, Simulink, or comparable tools.
- Solid understanding of applied mathematics and physics.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including documentation writing.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in Power Systems Engineering or a related field.
