About the Role
This position involves administering and coordinating health services programs, conducting screenings, dispensing medication, monitoring immunization requirements, and providing emergency care when needed. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate health records, reporting medical matters to parents and school personnel, and preparing reports for the Superintendent and State Board of Health.
* A high school graduate or equivalent with a valid Texas Driver's License
* Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in healthcare administration or a related field
* Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively under pressure
* Ability to travel to district sites as required
- Conduct health services, vision, hearing, and other screenings as required
- Dispense prescribed medication with doctor's orders and parent permission
- Monitor immunization requirements and ensure compliance
- Provide emergency care in the event of illness or accident
- Maintain accurate cumulative health records on all students
- Report to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school medical matters as needed
- Prepare and submit reports to the Superintendent/designee and State Board of Health
- Participate in developing and implementing a total school health program
- Frequent exposure to temperature extremes, humidity, noise, and low or intense illumination
- Occasional exposure to biological hazards, including communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.
- Work outside, around moving objects or vehicles, and on uneven surfaces
- Work alone, prolonged or irregular hours
