Activity Coordinator
General Purpose :
This position is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation and monitoring of quality programs and services that address all (social, emotional, physical, intellectual, cultural, vocational and spiritual) aspects for members in collaboration with Director of Community Life. This position requires the flexibility to provide daytime, evening, weekend and holiday hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Demonstrates the ability to plan, coordinate, schedule and directly provide programs, services and events that address the social, emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual and vocational / creative needs of members.
- Able to work well with residents in all levels of care and residents with a variety of functional / cognitive capabilities.
- Seeks input for program scheduling and enhancement from Member Committees.
- Establishes and monitors, in conjunction with the Director, hours in direct service, hands-on interaction, planning and arranging for events, creating calendars in order to assure that the focus is active positive resident interaction.
- Demonstrates the ability to analyze program offerings in terms of participation levels, needs / desires of members, cost / benefit and staff resources and use the data to take the appropriate steps to enhance or modify programs.
- Demonstrates effective collaboration and cooperation with all Departments (Dining Services, Environmental Services, Maintenance, Health Maintenance) and with Assisted Living Nurses, Volunteer Director to enhance resident programming that can make the best use of creative talent and maximize the dollars available for programs.
- Actively participates in line-ups and Team Meetings in order to facilitate communication, knowledge and support of all staffs’ effort to serve the members.
- Interested in professional improvement through appropriate workshops, seminars.
- Responsible for goal setting, monitoring and status review with the Director as needed.
- Responsible for determining and utilizing the most effective mechanism for member / staff communication and reminders that will result in positive attendance at scheduled programs and events.

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Certifications :
This position requires a minimum of a college degree in a recreation, social service or human services related field or at least 2-3 years’ experience working with older adults in a CCRC, long term care facility or community-based setting.
Physical Requirements :
The physical demands require that an individual be physically fit. The individual must have the enthusiasm, stamina and strength to work on their feet, assist members with wheelchairs, walkers, canes. Must be able to manage the equipment necessary to provide a wide array of programs.
Working Conditions : This position requires the ability to adapt / adjust to and share office space / computer capability with co-workers in what could be considered a close environment.
