POSTED ON 2/4/2025

Are you looking for a mission-driven non-profit where your skills can help people in need around the world? At the Jewish United Fund (JUF), we take pride in our mission and in having a work culture that fosters a sense of belonging and feels rewarding, supportive, and inclusive. We have a hybrid schedule and offer generous benefits including a 401(k) match, 22 days of paid time off, 11 sick days, and up to 21 paid holidays. The salary range for this role is $60,000-$80,000.

What you’ll be responsible for:

As Assistant Director of Evaluation and Quality Improvement, you will help us improve the way we evaluate our programs and will support the continuation and growth of the Shared Outcomes Project, which is a system-level change initiative, led by the Evaluation and Quality Improvement (EQI) team, to collect outcome data. The goal of the Shared Outcomes work is to bring together and collaborate with a cohort of service providers to build a common framework that will help us better understand how our system supports participants, evaluate what we are doing well, identify areas for improvement, and measure progress. This project also enhances the capacity of Chicago Jewish community organizations to articulate outcomes for their participants, learn from data, and improve their community contributions.

This position works closely with the Director and the Associate Vice President of Evaluation and Quality Improvement to implement, support, and expand internal and external evaluation efforts for JUF and its partner agencies.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Facilitate groups of affiliate organization staff to develop and implement collective outcome evaluation frameworks for varied impact areas (e.g., Mental Health, Education and Jewish Engagement).
  • Develop in-person, virtual, and hybrid group learning opportunities and encourage utilization of evaluation results to drive continuous quality improvement across agencies and programs.
  • Design and implement internal evaluation systems, including the development of outcome frameworks, implementation of data collection systems, data analysis, and reporting. This includes routine analysis and reporting of data stored in Salesforce to support a range of JUF departments and the development, implementation, and maintenance of a process for ongoing use of data to inform decision making.
  • Build, maintain, and manage effective working relationships with agency partners, project participants, and external consultants, ensuring projects align with goals and timeframes.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation capacity building support and technical assistance to agencies and programs participating in the Shared Outcomes project.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations for internal programs, stay up to date on best practices, promising programs, and theories of change that underpin the programs and services of JUF.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate evaluation findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Support research-related activities as needed, such as literature reviews, environmental scans, searching academic databases, and reading and synthesizing published studies.
  • Assist with data analysis, reporting, visualization, presentation, and additional support for JUF research projects.
  • Requires discretion and independent judgement in performing all aspects of the position.

What you need to succeed:

REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 2-5 years of relevant professional experience (e.g. program evaluation, data analysis)
    • Expertise in program evaluation methodology and performance management
    • Direct experience implementing data management processes, procedures, data quality management, and decision support
    • Hands-on experience in data architecture/design, data analysis, and reporting
    • Proven experience in navigating complex organizations and creative problem solving
    • Experience leading large, collaborative research and/or evaluation projects
    • Able to translate complex technical topics into easy-to-understand concepts
    • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills
    • Ability to establish working relationships and appropriately communicate with senior level staff
    • Must be able to multitask, juggle competing priorities, and pay strong attention to detail
    • Proficient in data analysis software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, R) and other relevant technological applications for evaluation (e.g., Survey Monkey)
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Able to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team as a cooperative and supportive team member with colleagues with a wide range of perspectives and abilities
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong ability to synthesize and represent data and research evaluation findings for use by multiple audiences (e.g., policymakers, funders, advocates, practitioners, community members, etc.)
    • Able to travel to external agency locations across the Chicagoland area
