What you’ll be responsible for:
As the Director of the Jewish United Fund’s Young Leadership Division (YLD), you will oversee the division's administration and management, providing professional leadership and strategic direction to YLD’s fundraising, educational, outreach, leadership development, and volunteer activities. You will develop, coordinate, and implement all YLD programs, activities, and fundraising and development initiatives, ensure effective donor engagement, and serve as the primary ambassador for YLD and young adults in the Chicagoland Jewish community.
What you’ll be doing:
- Oversee YLD’s day-to-day operations and collaboration within the larger Campaign department
- Supervise YLD team including direct supervision of Assistant Director and Administrative Aide
- Work in partnership with volunteer leadership to plan, coordinate, and implement committee meetings, programs, and events designed to increase number of participants at programs and donors to the JUF Annual Campaign
- Directly manage the day-to-day operations of the YLD Board of Directors and Executive Committee
- Project manage YLD’s annual Big Event Fundraiser
- Work in partnership with Campaign Department leadership to identify, engage, educate, solicit, and steward current and potential donors and to maximize all development opportunities through both YLD events and individualized approaches
- Develop and maintain a portfolio of donors, including engagement, cultivation, and solicitation of their gifts
- Collaborate with colleagues in Communications and Events to effectively market and execute campaign events and programs
- Act as an ambassador for YLD and the young adult community in Chicago
- Create and maintain department budget and write annual budget narrative
- Assume other responsibilities in the Campaign department as specified by the Senior Vice President, Annual Campaign, and support JUF Campaign with mandatory campaign-related activities on an ongoing basis
What you need to succeed:
- REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- 5-7 years related work experience in community organizing, outreach, and/or programming for young adults, including planning and strategy development
- Knowledge of Jewish community, culture, heritage, traditions and Jewish Communal Services
- Management experience with at least one direct report
- Proven ability to plan, implement and measure strategies and programs
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with multiple stakeholders (colleagues, volunteers, donors, community organizations)
- Ability to prioritize tasks, balance multiple assignments and meet deadlines
- High level of energy and flexibility
- Desire and willingness to learn and grow
- Availability for evening and/or weekend events/meetings
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite of Products
- Discretion and independent judgement in performing all aspects of the position
- PREFERRED:
- 1-2 years’ work experience in fundraising or donor relations
- Jewish communal work experience
