What you’ll be responsible for:
You will be responsible for helping tell the story of the Norton and Elaine Sarnoff Center for Jewish Genetics team to the broader community through newsletters, social media, and other outreach efforts.
What is the Sarnoff Center?
The Norton & Elaine Sarnoff Center for Jewish Genetics provides educational resources related to hereditary cancers and genetic disorders more common among persons of Jewish descent. We work closely with community members, clergy, healthcare professionals, and support organizations to raise awareness of these issues and available support options, including our own subsidized genetic counseling and screening program. Originally founded as The Chicago Center for Jewish Genetic Disorders in 1999, the Sarnoff Center for Jewish Genetics today offers resources to communities across North America and the world, while continuing its service focus in the Chicago Jewish community.
What you’ll be doing:
- Produce the four to six newsletters that the Sarnoff Center sends out to the community.
- Create content and manage Sarnoff Center’s social media accounts on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
- Brainstorm Sarnoff Center events, create materials such as signage, posters, and additional print resources, and promote programming via media outlets.
- Work with Sarnoff Center staff in the office to assemble and disseminate Sarnoff High Holiday materials.
- Assist with local campus communications and outreach virtually and in person.
- Attend Sarnoff Center programming during and after work hours virtually and in person (including four in-person evening Board meetings annually) as needed, sharing program content via social media.
- Work in partnership with JUF’s Marketing department as needed. Act as point person on HIVE platform.
- Act as the Sarnoff Representative on the JUF Social Media Committee, attend meetings and collaborate with other JUF departments on social media campaigns
What you need to succeed:
- REQUIRED:
- Experience with social media and understanding of social media best practices
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite of Products and Database entry
- Proficient in Canva, Constant Contact, or other communication/marketing platforms
- Ability to learn new software systems, including Salesforce.
- PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of Chicago, the Chicago Jewish community, and services provided by JUF and its beneficiary agencies
