What you'll be responsible for :

You will ensure that the security issues of Jewish groups in Chicago's 24th and 17th Police Districts, Lincolnwood, Skokie, and Evanston are addressed. Key relationships are with three rabbinic groups (cRc, Aguda, and Chabad), the Associated Talmud Torah, Jewish schools and social service agencies, and JUF facilities in the area. Key external relationships are with local law enforcement agencies working in the areas outlined above. The salary range for this role is $95,000-$105,000.

What you'll be doing :

  • Coordinate communication and collaboration between organizational partners, including :

Law enforcement and public safety entities

  • JUF Security Director and Deputy Director
  • Other local and national Jewish security organizations
  • The unified local Rabbinic leadership, under the cRc, and Agudath Israel, that will empower the role by providing input and approbation.
  • The position will not send emails out to individual community members, Like the broader JUF Security program, this project is a resource for community groups.
  • Convene and facilitate conversations amongst partners to share ideas and help implement action plans.
  • Share ideas, suggestions, and make sure communication is unified.

  • Facilitate regular effective communication and information sharing.
  • Act as point person to aggregate, sort security concerns, developments, and intelligence information from different sources.

  • Appropriately share information amongst and between organizational partners.
  • Proactively draft, vet, and disseminate updates, resources, and responses to questions for community groups.
  • Initiate, establish, and maintain working relationships with appropriate organizational contacts.
  • Regularly encourage and consult groups to support their security efforts and promote collaboration with other institutions and security-related entities.
  • Develop and maintain a repository of security data and access information for law enforcement use.
  • Organize and lead meetings.
  • Present security related training to groups of all sizes.
  • Conduct physical security audits and complete and deliver associated written reports.
  • Conduct security consultations for a wide range of events.
  • What you need to succeed :

  • Availability 24X7
  • Substantial familiarity with or readiness to become familiar with the Orthodox segment of the Jewish community.
  • 20 years of experience as a sworn certified law enforcement officer is required with 10 years of command or equivalent level experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Skills :
  • Strong writing, presentation, interpersonal, diplomatic, communication, analytical, problem resolution, and negotiation skills.

  • Proactive and self-motivated with good organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with desktop and mobile technology, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Professional, responsible, and levelheaded.
  • Ability to work independently, make appropriate decisions, and act on information received while understanding when to inform supervisors and partners.
  • Ability to quickly connect to individuals and build a professional relationship and high level of respect.
  • Strong public speaker when presenting and speakingto groups of a few people to ones with over one hundred.
  • Capable of observing the confidential nature of the agency's services or operations and security matters.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all.
  • An understanding that this position is grant funded by four organizations and the position exists only as long as the grant funding continues. The participating organizations have committed to a minimum of three years.
  • Quickly establish yourself as a credible, trusted professional, one who exudes authority and security expertise.
