Position Summary:
Julius Silvert Inc., a family-owned leader in the food distribution industry, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Warehouse Associate to join our dynamic warehouse team. This role will be primarily responsible for receiving shipments but will also support other warehouse operations, including inventory management, order picking, and warehouse organization. The Warehouse Associate will ensure compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, and workplace safety standards to support seamless warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving Operations
Receive and unload incoming shipments from carriers, vendors, and suppliers using warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks).
Verify shipment accuracy by inspecting incoming goods against purchase orders, packing lists, and invoices.
Identify and document discrepancies, damages, or shortages and report them to the appropriate departments.
Conduct quality control checks to ensure all products meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
Utilize BFC Dakota WMS and VAI S2K ERP systems to perform real-time inventory tracking and updates.
Assign barcodes, labels, and tracking information to inbound inventory for accurate warehouse storage.
Ensure all food safety guidelines, HACCP regulations, and company quality control standards are met during receiving and storage.
General Warehouse Operations
Assist in picking and packing orders accurately for timely delivery.
Organize and maintain inventory in warehouse storage areas to optimize efficiency.
Perform cycle counting and participate in annual physical inventory counts.
Help with restocking and replenishing inventory from receiving to appropriate storage areas.
Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, electric pallet jacks, and manual pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
Ensure compliance with OSHA warehouse safety guidelines and company policies.
Assist in warehouse sanitation, keeping workspaces and aisles clean, and following sanitation protocols.
Support shipping and loading operations as needed to meet business demands.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Receiving Accuracy: Maintain a 99% accuracy rate in verifying incoming shipments against purchase orders.
Order Fulfillment Rate: Ensure 100% on-time and accurate order picking to minimize shipping delays.
Inventory Accuracy: Maintain an inventory variance of less than 1% through accurate tracking and stock organization.
Safety Compliance: Maintain 100% compliance with OSHA and internal safety guidelines.
Efficiency Metrics: Maintain an average unload and verification time of 30 minutes per shipment.
Equipment Utilization: Ensure proper and safe use of warehouse equipment with zero incidents.
Qualifications & Certifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years in a receiving, warehouse, or logistics environment preferred.
Technical Skills: Experience with warehouse management systems (BFC Dakota WMS, VAI S2K ERP) preferred.
Certifications:
OSHA Forklift Certification (preferred, or must obtain within 90 days of hire).
Electric & Manual Pallet Jack Certification (preferred, or must obtain within 30 days).
HACCP Food Safety Training (preferred).
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs repeatedly, stand/walk for extended periods, and work in refrigerated/freezer warehouse environments.
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and excellent problem-solving skills.

Schedule & Work Environment:
Schedule: Day Shift, Monday – Friday with occasional weekends based on operational needs.

Environment: Fast-paced warehouse setting, exposure to temperature-controlled environments (refrigerated/freezer areas).
