What are the responsibilities and job description for the Strategist position at Jump Associates?

The Strategy Firm for Future-Focused Leaders

Every leader must ensure their company not only survives but thrives over the long term. At Jump, we help visionary companies like Target, Nike, and Samsung future-proof their businesses with powerful, innovative methodologies. For over 27 years, we’ve partnered with the world’s most ambitious organizations to drive growth amid massive change.

Are You Ready to Tackle Problems That Don’t Come with a Playbook?

As a Strategist at Jump, you’ll be a key contributor on our core team—engaging directly with clients and supporting impactful projects from day one. You won’t just be learning on the side; you’ll be at the heart of our process.

What You’ll Do

  • Deep Research: Conduct comprehensive secondary research on client industries, market landscapes, and competitors to lay the groundwork for strategic recommendations.
  • Ethnographic Interviews: Engage with stakeholders and conduct qualitative interviews to uncover valuable insights.
  • Data Analysis & Interpretation: Dive into data to extract trends and patterns that inform our strategic framework.
  • Insight & Framework Development: Collaborate with your team to transform research and data into compelling insights, strategic frameworks, and tailored solutions.
  • Client Engagement & Storytelling: Assist in preparing and delivering presentations to clients, helping to shape clear, persuasive narratives that drive actionable strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Initiatives: Contribute to business development, marketing, and other areas of Jump, helping us innovate and expand our strategic impact.

Who You Are

  • Early-Career Talent. A recent graduate or up to 2 years post-undergraduate, eager to jump in and make a difference from day one
  • Hybrid Thinker. You blend analytical rigor with creative exploration. While you’re still building depth in your discipline, you’re excited to connect ideas across business, design, or social science
  • Quick Learner. Adaptable and curious, you’re ready to absorb new methodologies and advisory practices at a rapid pace
  • Client-Focused. Your primary drive is to work with clients and help them overcome real challenges—not just to learn the craft of strategy
  • Team-Oriented. You thrive in highly collaborative environments where your contributions are valued and mentorship is a part of your everyday growth

Why Jump

  • Do Meaningful Work. You won’t just churn out slide decks—you’ll help leaders tackle challenges that shape their businesses
  • Grow with a Community of Learners. With a shared obsession for learning and diverse perspectives, we challenge and inspire each other every day
  • Master Hybrid Thinking. Our best people draw on social science, technology/design, and business strategy to create opportunities from uncertainty
  • Deliver the Best Work of Your Career. Striving for excellence, you’ll discover what you’re truly capable of with coaching, feedback, and collaboration

Growth & Mentorship

In this role, you’ll receive hands-on mentorship from seasoned strategists and gain exposure to diverse methodologies. Every project is an opportunity to refine your skills and pave your path toward becoming a senior strategist.

The Details

  • Location. Expect to spend at least 4 days a week in our San Mateo office—with flexibility to accommodate team and personal needs
  • Travel. Approximately 25% travel for client work and research
  • Eligibility. Must have the permanent right to work in the U.S
  • Experience. New graduates or up to 2 years post-undergraduate experience
  • Hybrid Exposure. While deep expertise isn’t required, exposure to at least one area (business, design, or social science) with a demonstrated curiosity about others is a must. We know you're out there, hybrid thinkers!

If you’re driven by a genuine desire to help clients navigate uncertainty and are ready to grow your career in a dynamic, future-focused environment, we’d love to hear from you.
