This is a very unique opportunity to work closely with a well-known, successful, LA-based serial entrepreneur and investor – the CEO of JUMP and a co-founder of Akamai Technologies, Randall Kaplan. JUMP's venture investments include Google, Lyft, Seagate, DiDi, Klarna, and other notable companies.
Interns will gain invaluable hands-on experience on how to build a startup, engage in regular / almost daily interactions with our CEO, and gain exposure to multiple industries and industry leaders.
As part of our summer intern program, we have an exciting guest speaker program through which entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and other well-known executives and industry leaders share their experiences with our interns. Our past guest speakers have included the CEO of Zappos, the founder and former CEO of LegalZoom and The Honest Company and founder / Managing Member of BAM Ventures, the CEO of Chegg; the CEO of Dale Carnegie; the former head Coach of the Arizona Cardinals; the co-founder and President of Moelis & Company; the former Morningstar Manager of the Decade and current Chief Investment Officer / of FPA Funds: the former Vice Chairman of Apollo Global Management and CEO of Kayne Anderson; Anthony Barr of the Minnesota Vikings; Metta World Peace formerly of the Los Angeles Lakers; best-selling author and motivational speaker Jon Gordon; and many others.

The primary responsibilities of our interns will be to conduct detailed research on Sandee, one of our portfolio companies. Sandee (https://sandee.com) is the “Yelp for Beaches” and hosts the world’s best and most comprehensive beach database. Interns will also work on marketing plans, social media strategies, public relations outreach, media curation, web design, quality assurance, writing / blogs, and other projects that may arise.

We like students from diverse backgrounds and majors, and although these are not necessary, a background in startups, marketing, social media, UI/UX design, software engineering, data science, or creative writing is helpful.
