We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Soccer Coach to lead and mentor young athletes in a fun, supportive, and skill-focused environment. This position involves coaching, instructing, and guiding players of different skill levels, fostering their development both on and off the field.
Program Details
- Grades 2-4 ("Club") – Practices on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 3:45 PM – 4:45 PM
- Grades 5-7 ("Team") – Practices on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 4:45 PM – 5:45 PM
- "Team" Games (Grades 5-7): Thursdays at 4:15 PM, 4:45 PM, or 5:15 PM (times vary)
- Games are held at various locations, requiring coaches to travel with players via public transportation alongside another supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead engaging practice sessions that emphasize skill development, teamwork, and strategy.
- Teach core soccer techniques such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense.
- Provide constructive feedback to help players improve their abilities and confidence.
- Maintain discipline and encourage a respectful, team-oriented culture.
- Manage and coach competitive games, ensuring all players get meaningful playing time.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about player development and team progress.
- Stay up to date on coaching trends and best practices in youth sports.
Qualifications
- Background in sports coaching, physical education, or competitive soccer experience.
- Prior experience coaching or playing soccer at any level (recreational or competitive).
- Passion for youth development and teaching the game in an engaging way.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage groups and implement behavior management strategies.
- Comfortable traveling via public transportation for away games.
- Preferred but not required: CPR/First Aid certification.
- Bonus: Knowledge of other sports like basketball or football.
Schedule
- Tuesdays & Wednesdays: 3:45 PM – 5:45 PM (practice sessions)
- Thursdays: Game times vary (4:15 PM, 4:45 PM, or 5:15 PM) plus travel time.
