What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head MS Track Coach position at Junction City School?
The person in this position will serve as the head track coach under the direction and supervision of the activities and athletic director. The person in this position will be responsible for teaching track fundamentals and skills to 5th through 8th graders. The head coach is also responsible for the planning, organizing, and directing the track program as well as for the conduct of athletes in the locker room, at practices, on the bus, and at games. The use of independent judgment and decision-making is required in many matters not having established rules, regulations, policies, or precedent. All coaches and advisers are required to take the on-line staff training on Child Abuse Identification and Prevention in Oregon Schools; Sexual Misconduct- Staff to Student; and Bullying Prevention in Oregon Schools. All coaching contracts are issued on a year-to-year basis.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Possess or be able to obtain a current first aid card;
- Knowledge and ability to help build and maintain a quality track program;
- Ability to communicate, work effectively with, and maintain effective working rapport with students, staff, parents, and patrons;
- Minimum of one-year competitive track (high school or higher) and / or coaching;
- Desire and ability to work with middle school age athletes;
- Ability to maintain student confidentiality;
- Responsibility to know, understand, and adhere to district policy and school expectations.
