What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant position at June E. Nylen Cancer Center?
The phlebotomist/lab assistant serves patients by identifying the best method for retrieving specimens and preparing specimens for laboratory testing. Will perform laboratory rapid testing procedures as assigned following appropriate training and certification by laboratory supervisory staff.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED required. Associate degree in science or health-related field preferred.
- One year of phlebotomy experience strongly preferred. Three years phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Superior customer service skills and excellent written and spoken communication skills required.
- Must be detail oriented, have excellent documentation skills, and ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Must have knowledge of good laboratory practices, specimen integrity and stability, federal and state requirements for laboratory operations.
