About June Shelton SchoolJune Shelton School & Evaluation Center enjoys the distinction of being the world's largest independent school for bright children with learning differences. Founded in 1976, Shelton is dedicated to making a difference by serving and empowering the lives of students who learn differently. While the school is clearly the centerpiece of its mission, Shelton is more than a school. It encompasses three other major components, all open to the community : a speech and language therapy program, an evaluation center, and a teacher-training program. Shelton is actively involved with research and collaborates with major medical institutions in the Dallas area, including Children's Medical Center and UT Southwestern Medical Center. The Shelton School is a co-educational, non-sectarian school that serves approximately 900 students with learning differences in grades EC to 12. The Shelton School is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS).The Shelton School of Dallas (TAPPS 4A) is currently accepting applications for a Upper School Head Cheer Coach . This team competes in cheer competitions. Under the direction of the Head Cheer Coach and Athletic Director, this position will perform administrative functions of the Chargettes team and perform all other activities necessary to carry out the aims of the sport and uphold the mission of The Shelton School. This includes serving and empowering the lives of students who learn differently.This is a part-time stipend-only position. The Cheer Coach is generally needed during June-May. The exact daily work schedule is driven by practice times and team events. Travel to athletic events off-campus is required. However, the employee is expected to work beyond the workday to perform duties outlined in the job description and as assigned.Essential Requirements : Previous experience as a Cheer Coach or higher.A mentor to students, comfortable with working with teenage boys and girls.In good standing with TAPPS.Must be highly organized and a great communicator.Must be patient and creative in communicating with learning different students.Must be willing to undergo extra training to work with learning different students.Other Requirements : Knowledgeable of rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.Numerous coaching techniques (all of our kids learn differently).Valid state of Texas driver's license.Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.The June Shelton School and Evaluation Center does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, citizenship status, age, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, or any other status protected by law.
