POSITION SUMMARYThis position provides customer service to Juneau County parks and campground visitors; ensures campground facilities are maintained for safe and sanitary use by the public.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe following duties are normal for this position. However, they are not to be construed as exclusive or all–inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may also be required or assigned.Greets and assists visitors, answers questions and explains regulations which apply to them.May assist campers in locating a campsite; is familiar with local points of interest and the location of services that might be requested by campers such as towing, groceries, churches, tourist attractions and local events.Performs light maintenance work around the campground such as litter pickup, sweeping and stocking of restrooms; provides information to park staff on potential problems.Clean campsites by performing minor maintenance tasks such as raking the campsite pad, washing tables, cleaning out fire rings, picking up litter, reporting any damage to the supervisor. Each site is cleaned after every camper checks out and before another checks in.Ensures outhouses and shower buildings are maintained, sanitized and supplied.Operates light equipment such as pickup trucks, all-terrain vehicles, lawn mowers, small power tools, and hand tools.May assist in campground public relations, educational activities, and special events/activities.Monitors assigned area to assure compliance with park rules, to prevent fires and vandalism, and assure visitor safety.Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner; adheres to all County safety regulations; ensures equipment is safely maintained.Reports all accidents to the appropriate authority. Follows all policies for reporting, investigating, and follow-up of equipment incidents, or personal injuries. Other duties as assigned.EXPECTATIONS Interprets and applies Federal, State, municipal, and Department rules, regulations, and policies.Attends work regularly and is punctual.Behaves professionally and presents an appropriate standard of grooming, hygiene, and dress that align with health and safety standards. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of Juneau County communities, roads and highways; ability to read maps.Knowledge and skill in the use of specialized equipment and tools required for the position.Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the work and necessary safety precautions.Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions and adhere to prescribed departmental routines.Ability to maintain accurate records of assigned activities.Skill in time management; prioritizing duties to accomplish a high volume of quality work product requiring minimal supervision.Ability to define problems, exercise sound judgment, and address a variety of situations successfully.Knowledge and ability to follow the policies and practices contained in the County Personnel Handbook.
