This position assists the Juneau County Land & Water Resources Department and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Field Office and is responsible for technical planning and designing of soil erosion control practices and animal waste pollution systems in conjunction with the goals set forth in the Juneau County Land & Water Resource Management Plan.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe following duties are normal for this position. However, they are not to be construed as exclusive or all–inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may also be required or assigned.Surveys, designs and supervises the construction of all types of conservation practices to include grassed waterways, dams and diversions, animal waste runoff systems and storage units, contour strips and other erosion control and/or water quality practices.Determines need and feasibility of practices as necessary.Certifies practices for cost-sharing according to job approval and authority provided by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and District Conservationist.Assists individuals and contractors in the application of conservation practices according to USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service specifications and engineering standards.Maintains necessary documents and administrative files according to USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service technical requirements and field office policy.Attends training meetings and workshops at the request of the LWRD, DATCP, DNR and NRCS.Creates conservation project maps and technical designs using GIS, CAD, and aerial photography.Assists with monitoring programs, including field work, data analysis, and grant applications.Ensures proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment.Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner; adheres to all County safety regulations; ensures all regulations pertaining to the safe use of equipment are understood and followed.Reports all accidents to the appropriate authority. Follows all policies for reporting.Office duties including vouchers, meeting minutes, filing, and updating County website as needed. Assists with the coordination between lake and producer led groups within the county.Other duties as assigned. EXPECTATIONS Interprets and applies Federal, State, municipal, and Department rules, regulations, and policies.Attends work regularly and is punctual.Behaves professionally and presents an appropriate standard of grooming, hygiene, and dressthat align with health and safety standards.
