Assistant Garden Center Manager

J.W. Jung Seed Company is a family owned and operated mail-order and retail company that ships quality seeds, plants and gardening accessories to all 50 states. Jung Seed Company owns six garden centers in the state of Wisconsin with our corporate headquarters located in Randolph, WI.

We are currently seeking an Assistant Garden Center Manager at our location in Stoughton, WI.

As the Assistant Garden Center Manager in the you will be responsible for:

• Assisting the Garden Center Manager in planning, ordering, and displaying plant and hard good material
• Opening and closing the store
• Training new employees
• Maintaining quality of products through watering, trimming, fertilizing and other proper maintenance
• Providing excellent customer service through all aspects of the customers buying experience (assisting with finding product, cashiering, loading customer’s car etc…)
• Troubleshoot customer service issues when necessary
• Assisting with unloading merchandise from trucks by utilizing pallet jacks and forklifts (when necessary)
• Ensuring inventory is accurate and up-to-date

How do you know you would be a great Assistant Manager in our Garden Center? If you:

• Enjoy working with plants
• Possess a basic familiarity with plants and have a basic understanding of plant care, harvesting, soil, and water quality.
• Have experience with POS systems, inventory control, purchasing and database management.
• Are comfortable both leading a team of full-time and seasonal staff and working alongside staff as a team member.
• Are comfortable training and coaching staff including providing consistent feedback to team members and manager.
• Possess the ability to coordinate staff activities during a shift.
• Can take initiative to help solve problems, and to keep the store and products looking great.
• Have a strong attention to detail.
• Possess positive communication skills.
• Can work independently and use sound judgement.
• Are flexible and can adapt in fast paced and changing situations.
• Can work in extreme hot and cold temperatures.
• Can stand, squat, sit, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.
• Are available and willing to work nights and weekends; with scheduled overtime hours in the end of March-May.
