Position Summary Information
Key Responsibilities The Financial Aid Coordinator assists with the planning and coordination of financial aid programs, services and office operation. Oversees state grant programs, student employment programs, and a portion of the student loan programs.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Serves as the primary phone, email, and reception contact for the Office of Student Financial Planning and provides office administrative support to help the office run smoothly.2. Supports current and prospective students and their families on financial aid procedures and processes while ensuring that the College is in compliance with the state, federal and institutional policies and regulations governing financial aid.3. Consults with various College offices (Admissions, Registrar, Bursar) and external agencies (lenders, and guarantee agencies) to resolve related processing, certification, and payment issues.4. Acts as a liaison for the PHEAA Pennsylvania State Grant program, as well as PHEAA Special Programs including electronic initiatives related to those programs. Analyzes and resolves student eligibility issues related to the Pennsylvania state programs.5. Administers private loans for students and parents, including review of application information, determining eligibility, and certifying loans.6. Monitors campus employment and earnings and is the office primary contact regarding work study. Submits monthly earnings and monitors account.7. Develops appropriate forms, letters, fact sheets, and other informational materials necessary for specific financial aid functions and processes.8. Monitors the Financial Aid office’s web page content and updates, as necessary.9. Serve as position backup to the Director and Assistant Director in awarding, counseling and processing all aspects of financial aid for current and prospective Juniata College students.

- Knowledge and abilities normally acquired through a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- One to three years of related experience in student support services or client support services, or a combination of education and experience.
- Ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize financial aid software and other software as needed. Knowledge of data entry and word processing (typing, editing, formatting documents).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems. Supervision Required / Given This position reports directly to the Director of Student Financial Planning. Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands
