Financial Aid Counselor
Job Requirements
The Financial Aid Counselor position requires a strong understanding of financial aid policies and procedures. This individual must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide guidance to students and families. Additionally, they should be proficient in using financial aid software and other relevant tools.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the planning and coordination of financial aid programs, services, and office operations.
2. Provide guidance to current and prospective students and their families on financial aid procedures and processes.
3. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve processing, certification, and payment issues related to financial aid.
4. Liaise with the PHEAA Pennsylvania State Grant program and related electronic initiatives, addressing student eligibility concerns.
5. Process private loans for students and parents, reviewing application information, determining eligibility, and certifying loans.
6. Monitor campus employment and earnings, serving as the primary point of contact for work-study opportunities and submitting monthly earnings reports.
7. Develop necessary documents and materials for financial aid functions and processes.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date content on the Financial Aid office's web page.
9. Provide backup support to the Director and Assistant Director in awarding, counseling, and processing financial aid for current and prospective Juniata College students.
