Position Overview:
The Director of Programs supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of Juniper Arts Academy’s fine arts education programs. Working closely with the Executive Director, this role ensures smooth program operations by managing class schedules, coordinating resources, and assisting with instructor and volunteer support. The Director of Programs also plays a key role in student engagement, program evaluation, and maintaining relationships with community partners. This position requires strong organizational skills, a commitment to trauma-informed education, and the ability to foster a positive and supportive learning environment for students, teachers, and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Coordination
- Assist in planning and coordinating all aspects of Juniper Arts Academy’s fine arts education programs alongside the Executive Director.
- Manage class schedules, instructor availability, and resource distribution to ensure smooth program operations.
- Attend all scheduled Juniper programming as behavior support staff, providing a safe and structured learning environment.
Staff & Volunteer Support
- Provide administrative support to teaching staff, ensuring they have the necessary materials, training, and guidance to deliver effective instruction.
- Co-organize and lead teacher and volunteer onboarding trainings with the Training & Volunteer Coordinator.
- Help integrate and support in-class volunteers, ensuring they are effectively involved in program activities.
Student & Program Engagement
- Oversee student participation and progress, addressing any student needs or concerns as they arise.
- Support the Student Advocate volunteer program, ensuring volunteers are effectively contributing to student development.
Program Evaluation & Administration
- Assist in gathering feedback from students, teachers, and community partners to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Collect and maintain data for reports, impact evaluations, and funding documentation.
- Maintain accurate records, including student attendance, program participation, and volunteer engagement.
Curriculum & Community Partnerships
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure curriculum integrates trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning (SEL).
- Assist in creating and refining lesson plans and educational resources as needed.
- Maintain communication with residential facilities and community partners to ensure smooth program delivery and collaboration.
Event Coordination
- Assist in planning and executing special events, including end-of-session showcases, art exhibits, and community engagement events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, arts administration, nonprofit management, or a related field required
- 2-3 years of professional experience in program coordination, education, youth development, or a related field
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently
- Experience working with underserved or trauma-impacted youth in an educational or arts-based setting
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and social-emotional learning (SEL) in a classroom or programmatic setting
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with experience supporting educators, volunteers, or program staff
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage students, volunteers, and community partners
- Experience handling program documentation, including attendance tracking, student records, and compliance paperwork
- Must pass all background checks and screening processes required to work with students.
Preferred Partnerships:
- Experience in arts education or nonprofit program coordination
- Background in managing volunteer programs or leadership roles in youth development organizations
- Understanding of SEL frameworks and trauma-informed teaching strategies
- Experience planning and coordinating events such as student showcases or community partnership
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
