What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Director of Wellness position at Juniper Communities?
Juniper Communities, recently named one of the “Best Places to Work in Aging Services” by Fortune, is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and detail-oriented leader to join our team as the REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF WELLNESS – TEXAS for approximately five (5) locations in Austin, Dallas, Kerrville and San Antonio and support for other states as needed.
Juniper is the only woman founded and owned senior living company of 36 yrs known as the leader of senior living innovation and lifestyle management with a portfolio of 28 communities of assisted living, memory care, independent living and skilled nursing rehabilitation services.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of nursing management and leadership in multiple environments os senior living including Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living and Memory Care. A dynamic, solution-focused leadership presence and depth of operational/regulatory knowledge is a must to lead and support the Directors of Wellness and other team members as a key Regional Team member for Texas. The Regional Director of Wellness spends 4-5 days per week at a community providing consultation, education, audits, training and other reviews of Wellness operations and quality and works with the other Regional Team Members and Directors to ensure quality for each community.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and support compliance for Juniper Communities Wellness Departments specific to Juniper Policy & Procedures and well as nursing standards of care and quality.
- Monitor and support Juniper Connect4Life (C4L) care model for all Wellness operations including ancillary providers and other care partners.
- Serve as interim Director of Wellness (DOW) when required for assigned locations
- Oversee and administer the medication delegation program in compliance with Texas state regulations
- Review and audit all Wellness Documentation including PointClickCare (PCC) or other software as required.
- Develop and coordinate innovative care models with geriatric nurse practitioners and other
- Implement and manage a company-wide Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement program
- Conduct quarterly site visits to evaluate care quality and train staff
- Participate in state and federal surveys including ongoing audit, preparation, audit and review of regulatory compliance and on-sight presence during surveys and exit interviews.
- Monitor and support pharmacy / med administration compliance.
- Assist and manage project transitions including new programming, development or other operational changes as requested.
- Engage in healthcare reform discussions with local and regional stakeholders
- Lead recruitment efforts for wellness talent and orient new Directors of Wellness
· Coordinate Nurse Practitioners or physicians working with each community to assure a higher level of clinical excellence through improved monitoring of changes in condition, advanced training and community education
· Engage, oversee and monitor outside wellness related consultants
· Liaison with Medical Directors and other medical providers serving residents and or staff at the community.
· Assure all Health and Wellness staff completes mandatory In Touch Orientations and in-service training; assist in development or refinement of training programs and delivery of program.
· Liaison with other Resident Services Departments, especially Dining, Social Services, Recreation to ensure quality resident care at all communities
· Meet with MDS/BOM to ensure appropriate assessment so as to capture revenues
· Completes BPA audits at communities and completes reports.
· Review QA (Key Indicator) reports and development of POC to address areas of concern
· Oversee the Medication Administration program, including training and competency evaluation at all communities
· Ensure that all Wellness Departments are in compliance with all regulations and follow all established safety regulations.
· Ensure adequate levels and/or appropriate to PRD of staffing, within regulatory guidelines for each community; if needed assist in recruitment and selection of staff, development of work schedules and assignments
· Completes PointClickCare, configuration, documentation compliance, audits including Level of Care, assessments and care and service plans monthly
· Applies for CLIA waivers for all communities.

Qualifications
- RN/GNP license
- Bachelor's Degree (Advanced MBA, healthcare, or administration degree preferred)
- Minimum five (5) years experience in Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Memory Care.
- Demonstrated history of progressive management experience in long-term care or senior living
- Administrator/Assisted Living License preferred
- Willingness to travel
- Familiarity with Texas regulatory requirements including medication delegation regulations
- PointClickCare (PCC) and computer literacy.
