The Fleet and Equipment Asset Manager is responsible for overseeing the inventory, maintenance, and performance of fleet and equipment assets to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. This role plays a critical part in aligning asset availability with revenue requirements and supporting operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement fleet and equipment asset management processes, ensuring their effectiveness by tracking performance metrics and providing timely feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Manage asset utilization by strategically allocating fleet and equipment assets across locations to ensure resources are deployed where they are needed most, minimizing downtime, reducing idle assets, and maximizing operational efficiency.
- Maintain a comprehensive inventory of fleet and equipment assets by managing databases, conducting regular physical audits, and reconciling records to ensure accuracy. Identify discrepancies, track asset movement, and implement controls to prevent loss, theft, or misallocation.
- Regularly assess asset condition, maintenance history, and costs to determine whether to repair or replace equipment, considering factors like age, usage, and total cost of ownership.
- Provide technical support and guidance to onsite mechanic and leaders to ensure maintenance shops are clean, organized, and operating efficiently. Conduct regular inspections, implement preventive maintenance programs, and improve shop organization, parts management, and maintenance processes using lean practices.
- Support the Director of Fleet with special projects, driving initiatives to completion.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience manaing fleet and equipment assets in the landscaping industry or related industry.
- 3 years of leadership or managerial experience preferred.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge/experience vehicle repairs and repair issues
- In-depth knowledge of equipment, tools, and machinery needed for landscaping operations.
- Strong technical knowledge of fleet and equipment maintenance practices, including diagnostics, repair processes, and preventive maintenance strategies.
- Experience with fleet management software (e.g., Fleetio) and asset tracking systems.
- Familiarity with equipment life cycle analysis, including cost-benefit evaluation of repairs versus replacements.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, parts procurement, and shop organization best practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively share information across teams and stakeholders.
- Proficient in computer and technology skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and mobile devices.
- Fluent in English, Spanish, and Creole is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time to provide onsite support and services to various locations across the company.
- Must possess a valid US drivers license (or equivalent) and meet Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) verification requirements.
