Job Summary:
The Jupiter Christian School Second Grade Teacher must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the mission and philosophy of Jupiter Christian School and is committed to helping see it become a reality in the lives of our students by manifesting, by precept and example, the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school (Luke 6:40), and as an example to parents and fellow employees in judgment, dignity, respect, and Christian living according to the Conditions of Employment outlined in the JCS faculty contract. The second-grade teacher must be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity in academic and leadership abilities that will enable him/her to teach God’s truth. The ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are prerequisites.
I. General Description of Duties and Responsibilities
a. Teaches second-grade students in a self-contained classroom as a teaching team member. The teacher implements the school curriculum; documents teaching and learning progress/activities/outcomes; develops lesson plans, models the necessary skills to perform assignments, provides a safe and positive learning environment; and provides feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals etc.
II. Essential Job Requirements
a. Establishes and maintains a positive classroom environment conducive to learning. This includes spiritual, academic, emotional, social, and physical growth and maturity.
b. Respectfully submits and is loyal to God-appointed authority.
c. Integrates a biblical worldview.
d. Follows and updates the JCS curriculum guides in implementing the instructional program.
e. Differentiates learning activities and instruction that meet the needs of the students in the class.
f. Assesses student’s performance and plans instructional strategies to help the student.
g. Integrates technology and innovative teaching practices.
h. Implements STEAM principles and project-based learning.
i. Develop positive working relationships with students, parents, and fellow staff members.
j. Works cooperatively with the teaching team.
k. Attends all meetings before or after school that are scheduled by the administration or department head.
l. Serves on school committees as requested.
m. Serves in a “Plus-One” role.
III. Qualifications
a. Spiritual
i. Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior
ii. Must be able to demonstrate active membership and involvement in an evangelical local church
b. Education
i. Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education
ii. Preferred: Master’s Degree in Education
c. Experience:
i. Preferred: Minimum of five years of teaching experience
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
