Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
• BSN OR completed within 3 years of start date preferred

Experience / Qualifications

Position Summary

The Lactation Consultant works directly with breastfeeding mothers supporting the mother / baby breast feeding dyad. Develops plan of care and reinforces plan with patient and nursing staff. Works to solve breastfeeding problems and bring them to a resolution. Promotes breastfeeding in the community and supports breastfeeding initiatives. Provides ongoing education for patients and nursing staff.

Physical Requirements

Physically able to sit, stand, stoop and walk for long periods of time. The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, and be capable of critical thinking, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert and self-motivated. Ability to push / pull up to 20lbs, carry and lift up to 20lbs.
